In September 2025, Kilian Jornet will embark on States of Elevation, his latest major project: a journey connecting the American peaks over 14,000 feet high, known as \u00ab fourteeners \u00bb, on foot and by bike. W<\/span>hen Kilian Jornet<\/strong>‘s press office WhatsApp group woke up, it was a safe bet that something was about to happen. After an initial notification, a press release was issued on Wednesday, August 6, announcing a new gargantuan challenge, a project that should allow the most famous trail runner to push the limits of endurance once again.<\/p>\n

This fall, Kilian Jornet will cross much of the United States to climb the peaks of the fourteeners. To do so, relying solely on the strength of his legs, he will have to cover the equivalent of a stage of the Tour de France combined with a marathon every day, with the added challenge of altitude and technical terrain. Kilian Jornet’s list<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The United States has 96 peaks over 14,000 feet. The state of Colorado alone has 53, followed by California and Washington. It should be noted that Kilian Jornet will not be venturing as far as Alaska, where the last fourteeners on the list of 96 are located. This also means, of course, that major peaks such as Denali and Foraker will not be on the agenda, as they are very difficult to climb logistically and very remote.<\/p>\n

In total, this means 25 fewer fourteeners, for a total of 71. The total distance is difficult to estimate. A breathless journey<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In line with its previous projects, Pyrenees 300<\/a><\/strong> in 2023 and Alpine Connections<\/a><\/strong> in 2024, this new project is faithful to its philosophy based on minimalism and extreme endurance. La liste de Kilian Jornet<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Les Etats-Unis comptent 96 sommets de plus 14 000 pieds (4267 m.). L'Etat du Colorado en compte 53 \u00e0 lui seul, suivi par les \u00c9tats de Californie et de Washington. \u00c0 noter que Kilian Jornet ne poussera pas l'aventure jusqu'en Alaska, o\u00f9 se trouvent les derniers fourteeners de la liste des 96 au total. Cela signifie aussi, \u00e9videmment, que les gros sommets tels que le Denali ou le Foraker ne seront pas au programme, sommets tr\u00e8s lourds en termes de logistique d'ascension et tr\u00e8s \u00e9loign\u00e9s.<\/p>\n

Dans la lign\u00e9e de ses projets pr\u00e9c\u00e9dents, Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es 300<\/em><\/strong><\/a> en 2023 et Alpine Connections<\/em><\/strong><\/a> en 2024, ce nouveau projet s\u2019inscrit dans une approche fid\u00e8le \u00e0 sa philosophie bas\u00e9e sur le minimalisme et l'endurance extr\u00eame. D\u00e9part pr\u00e9vu d\u00e9but septembre prochain pour cette longue route am\u00e9ricaine, au cours de laquelle on peut imaginer que quelques complices locaux le rejoindront.
