After two attempts in previous years, Andrzej Bargiel completed the first full ski descent without supplemental oxygen from the summit of Everest to base camp on September 22. Setting off on the evening of the 21st, he reached the summit on September 22 with Pasang Rinzee Sherpa. Andrzej Bargiel skied the sharp summit ridge and the steep powder slopes above and below the South Col to Camp II. The next day, he skied through the maze of crevasses in the Ice Fall. It was a historic descent, just a few days before Jim Morrison’s descent on the north side.
