Historic achievement: Andrzej Bargiel skis down Everest from the summit, without bottled oxygen

Skiier Andrzej Bargiel has just written a new chapter in his legend. After two attempts in previous years, the Polish Himalayan climber has completed the first full ski descent without additional oxygen from the summit of Everest to base camp. Setting off on the evening of September, 21st, he reached the summit on September 22d with Pasang Rinzee Sherpa. Andrzej Bargiel skied the sharp summit ridge and the steep powder slopes above and below the South Col to Camp II. The next day, he skied through the maze of crevasses in the Ice Fall. Bargiel becomes the only man to have skied Everest and K2.
